Ode to Baby Number One- Free Verse About my Oldest

Baby number one
You were the first baby in the history of the world
Evidenced by how we acted.

Every step was videotaped.
Your baby book is more detailed
Than my dissertation.

You were swaddled and rocked.
I read The Happiest Baby on the Block
47 times.

One of my 15 swaddles

You said "hi" at 8 months.
It is no wonder you were an early talker.
I did not shut up around you, ever.

Your nap schedule was made of iron and steel.
If anyone tried to disturb it
I attacked them physically.

You had an incredibly long attention span.
Even now, you have had
The same preschool boyfriend all year.

You loved books.
If you wanted to read a book, I dropped everything.
We read every board book in the world.

You still love books.
I cannot read Snow White anymore.
That damn thing is 50 pages.

The minute you had a tooth, we brushed it.
It fit into the routine
Between baby massage and special song.

The daycare provider was astonished
At how quickly you expected to be fed.
At home, you waited for nothing.

Give me ice cream faster

Your personality is just like mine
We think and say the same things
We annoy each other.

I always wanted hair like yours.
When your sister developed manual dexterity
I hid the child scissors just in case.

You are my most empathic child
You cry at Dumbo and Pocahontas
and some movie we watched where an Orthodox Jewish lady couldn't conceive kids.

You are an artist.
You are a rock collector.
You went on that ride that is like flying at Dutch Wonderland, and were not scared.

You are pretty sensitive.
You notice everything.
You're particularly great at noticing when I look terrible.

You are probably the best big sister I have seen.
No joke.
You know Mommy tells it like it is.

Rare sharing of Real Bear with Clara
When the baby started moving,
You got all in my face to put up the baby gate.
Oops, baby fell down the stairs.  You were right.

If one of my kids is going to visit me when I am old
I know it's going to be you
You're just that kind of person.

You are the one who asks for special time with Mommy.
Usually we go to do pottery
Because I forgot how damn expensive that place was last time we went.

Baby number one
You will always be my first baby.
Mommy loves the little person you are.

All grown up now

Lenovo CEO Shares Bonus With Employees

With a large abundance of PC manufacturers out there all trying to sell you the same things, Lenovo, a Chinese multinational technology firm,  and their CEO Yang Yuanqing are implementing some generous small business tactics that may be contributing to their success. Lenovo has pushed their way into the top of PC manufacturing, surpassing $34 billion in sales. This company brings you all the day to day technology you would use including PC's, tablets, workstations, servers, electronic storage devices, and IT management software. Lenovo is also becoming a smartphone manufacturer, with rumors saying that they may even buy out Blackberry. It's hard to ignore the apparent success of Lenovo, and it's even harder not to connect it to the selfless actions of their CEO, Yang Yuanqing.   Instead of simply pocketing his $3+ million dollar bonus due to the company's success, Yang Yuanqing took it upon himself to share his bonus with his 10,000 manufacturing employee...
